My Unique Selling Point
“Cows, after you've seen them for a while are boring. They may be perfect cows, attractive cows, cows with a great personality but they're still boring. A purple cow, though - now that would be interesting.” Seth Godin
Finding your purple cow…
What makes you different from all the others that are planning to do what you do or already doing it? Here is a list to stimulate your thinking. Remember too that being unique is overrated, after all, the best place to open a coffee shop is next to other coffee shops. Sometimes the competition makes the market for you and this can mean that your strength lies in being similar or the same. This can be important for clients who are looking for you to meet agreed standards or industry norms. In situations like this you need to look to the WAY you deliver it rather than trying to make the product or service itself unique. E.g. in a market full of very similar plumbers the one with the clean van who shaves, showers and wipes his feet before coming into your house is the one most likely to win repeat business or referrals.
